Energizing Community: Lathrop Community “Goes Solar” with Values-Driven Installer

Shared Commitments to Community, Sustainability, and Long-Term Wellness Align in Major Clean Energy Investment

NORTHAMPTON, MA- Lathrop Community is officially going solar thanks to a new partnership with local worker-owned cooperative PV Squared Solar. This project celebrates a shared vision for sustainability, community resilience, and long-term financial wellness.

To mark the start of this exciting new chapter, Lathrop and PV Squared hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, June 13th, 2025 at the Northampton campus. The celebration included a brief educational talk about solar energy, a Q&A session with PV Squared, and an outdoor tour of the newly installed equipment. Residents and community members  were invited to attend and learn more about how solar power supports Lathrop’s mission and values.

“This is more than a clean energy investment, it’s a reflection of who we are,” said Patrick Arguin, CEO of Lathrop Community. “With PV Squared, we found a partner that understands the importance of long-term care for both people and the planet.”

The solar project, now live, is already generating clean electricity and reducing the community’s carbon footprint. It also represents a financial strategy for long-term stability, aligning with both Lathrop’s commitment to thoughtful stewardship and PV Squared’s values as a worker-owned cooperative.

“Lathrop’s dedication to community, sustainability, and intentional living mirrors everything we stand for,” said Brittany Hathaway, Worker-Owner at PV Squared Solar. “We’re proud to help power their future, with sunshine and purpose.”
