SKILLED NURSING
OVERVIEW
Licensed or "skilled" nursing
services will be available through Lathrop Support Services. LSS
nursing will provide services such as assistance with medications
and other skills requiring a licensed nurse, such as providing
a nurse to accompany you to a care provider appointment as another
set of ears. There is a monthly plan for "Medication Pre-fills",
this includes a nurse pre-filling cartridges on a weekly basis
with a signed physician's order sheet. This would include some
help with reordering and keeping up to date medication lists.

nursing $45.00 per visit
A
LA CARTE OVERVIEW~
A LA CARTE services are
meant to fill a variety of needs and ever changing requirements
some residents encounter at different periods in time and different
stages of health. They are for the occasional necessity, the unexpected
or special request. They can be used on a regular, or once a year
basis. They are available in small time increments and larger
blocks of time. They may be scheduled in advance, or often with
short notice. The nursing assistants or home health aides filling
these time periods will be Lathrop Support Services employees.
They are here to support residents in maintaining their
independence and enhancing their quality of life. 
A LA CARTE services
are a result of our hearing of the need and survey results that
repeatedly mentioned the need for "occasional" help at home. A
la carte hours will be on an "as available" basis as our program
grows.
Some
possible uses for "a la carte" services are:
- A partner/motivator to complete an exercise program.
- To get out seasonal clothing, or rearrange a closet.
- As respite care for a spouse or roommate.
- Help or companion for a trip to the mall.
- For an escort to a physician's office.
- A scheduled time to walk outside.
- To help with correspondence.
- Pet care.
- Many more possibilities, please ask.

LATHROP
WELLNESS CENTER
The Wellness Program
at Lathrop is coordinated by our Wellness Director, who is a family
nurse practitioner. She offers advice and advocacy to residents
of the Lathrop Communities, and has open door office hours at
the Inn , on the Easthampton campus. Home visits, and visits while
a resident is hospitalized or in rehab are also available. The
Wellness Director encourages healthy living through exercise education
and programs, and by offering one-on-one counseling about food
choices.
There is an active resident
Health and Wellness Committee, which meets with the WD regularly
to plan and evaluate programs offered to the community. We have
sponsored talks both by residents with expertise in health education,
and by outside speakers. These have included medical staff, advocates
for elders' insurance and health care needs, the local hospital
chaplain and others from the wider community. Residents run weekly exercise classes,
Tai Chi classes, take advantage of the fitness room and many walking
options within the community and surrounding woodland trails.
